Summer Weekly events

The Ocean City Pops has performances throughout the summer at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk

Every Tuesday July through the end of August

10am – 1pm on Asbury Avenue. Entertainment, Face painters, Balloon sculpters.
 
Mummers Night – Starting July 11th Strutting 7pm – 9pm on the Boardwalk, 6th – 14th Streets. 9am
 
Beach Walks – South end location: 59th St.7 & Central Ave. at the entrance to Corsons Park – 9am. North End location: OC/Longport Bridge parking lot – Gardens Parkway – 6:30pm. Tickets may be purchased on-site. Adukts - $1.00 Children .50¢.

Farmer’s Market at the Tabernacle grounds, 6th & Asbury Ave. 8am – 1pm.

Wacky but not tacky events and contests that are fun for the entire family.

Character Night – 6pm on the Boardwalk. Characters will sigh autographs at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. Come join the fun and meet all of Ocean City Boardwalk Merchants Mascots.

July

4th – Bike Parade – Sponsored by the Gardens Civic Assoc. Registration 9am at the Longport Bridge parking lot. Parade begins 10am.

 4th – Bike Parade – Sponsored by the South OC Improvement Assoc. Registration 9am at 40th  St. & Asbury Ave. Parade begins 10am.
 
4th – Fourth of July Celebration – Kite flying competition at 7pm followed by entertainment. A spectacular fireworks display tops of the evening.
 
5th – Wacky Wednesday Pie Eating Contest – Celebrate America wit a good old-fashion apple and cherry pie eating contest. NO HANDS ALLOWED! Open to all ages. Limited to 150 participants. Start time 10:30am at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace & Boardwalk.
 
6th – Sand Sculpting Contest – Registration is free and begins at 9am at the 6th St. beach. The first one of the season. Judging takes place by11am.
 
12th = Wacky Wednesday French Fry Sculpting – Use your creativity to shape and sculpt French fries into your very own masterpiece. Contest is free. Open to all ages. Start time 10:30am at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
 
12th – Freckle Contest – Registration is free and begins at 5:30pm in front of the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. Contest starts at 6pm.
 
15th – 38th Annual T. John Carey Master’s Swim – Registration 8am at the beach patrol station, 34th and the beach. Race will start at 10am.
 
19th – Wacky Wednesday Paper Clip Sculpting  - Use your creativity to shape and sculpt paperclips into your own masterpiece. Open to all ages. Start time 10:30am at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
 
22nd – Night in Venice – The City’s annual boat parade. Suggested theme: “Rockin Through the Decades”. Starts at the Longport Bridge to Tennessee Avenue along the bay. Fireworks display to follow parade. Time to be announced. To register visit: www.ocnj.us/niv
 
26th – Wacky Wednesday Christmas in July – Celebrate the Christmas holiday season in July with a special visit from Santa while he is in town on vacation. Dress in red and green to participate in our wacky Christmas meets summer fashion show. Contest is free. Limited to 150 participants. Open to all ages. Start time is 10:30am at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
 
26th OCBP Women’s Lifeguard Invitational Races- 34th St. beach, 6:15pm. Women representing the 15 beach patrols on the South Jersey coast will be competing in this annual race.

August

18th – Little Miss Ocean City – 7pm at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. Scholarship pageant for girls ages 8 – 11. Must live, attend Ocean City Schools or be a property owner in Ocean City  (parent). For registration information call 609-525-9304.

 
23rd – Wacky Wednesday – Taffy Sculpting Sculpting – Use your creativity to shape and sculpt salt water taffy into your own masterpiece. Contest is free. Open to all ages. Start time is 10:30am at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
 
26th – Boardwalk Merchant Fireworks Display – a spectacular fireworks display can be viewed from 6th – 14th Streets on the Boardwalk. Fireworks start at 10pm.

4th -  OCNJ Labor Day Race – 5 mile beach run and 1 mile fun run/walk. Great end of the season event. $20 Pre-registration. $25 Race Day. $10 - 14 years & under. Registration begins February 1, 2017. Call 609-399-6111 or www.ocnj.us/Race-Events

 
9th – Ocean City Classic Car and Street Rod Show – Features classis cars on display. Boardwalk display  12noon – 4pm on Saturday .
 
10th -  Corvette Show – Over 350 cars exhibited. One of the largest of its kind in the East. Models from every year Corvettes were manufactured, comprise this colorful show. Displayed on the Boardwalk from 6th – 10th Streets, 11:30am – 4pm.
 
11th – “A Day to Remember”  9/11 Ceremony- 7pm in front of the Sixth Street Firehouse. All are invited to attend. More details to follow.
 
16th – Ocean City Airport Festival – Annual festival at the Municipal Airport, 26th & Bay Ave. 10am – 3pm. Features include a ground display of unusual airplanes ranging from World War II planes to Classics and Warbirds. Meet the performers for the next day’s Aerobatic Air Show.
 
17th - Boardwalk Aerobatic Airshow – 1pm, 6th – 14th Streets over the ocean. Thrill to some of the best stunt pilots and aerobatic champions in the world plus military demonstrations.
 
23rd – MS City to Shore Ride – with 7,000 cyclists raising $5.6 million – promises to be the best cycling experience on the east coast.
 
24th – OCNJ Half Marathon, 5K & 10 mile N0n-Competitive Walk/Run – registration begins February 1, 2017. Half Marathon $50 pre-registration until August 31st., Sept. 1 – 20 - $60; Sept 21 – 23 - $70. No race day registration for the half marathon. www.ocnj.us/race-events

7TH – Fall Block Party and Fireworks Spectacular – 9am – 5pm  from 5th – 14th Streets on Asbury Avenue . Over 400 crafters, food vendors, music and more. A fireworks display in the evening over the ocean.
 
7th – 9th – Indian Summer Weekend – Seafood vendors at the Music Pier (Sat. – Mon.) and boardwalk table sales.

21st – Junior Miss Ocean City Pageant – 7pm at the William and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center, Ocean City High School, 6th Street. Tickets $10. Tickets will be sold at the High School box office the evening of the pageant. Doors will open at 6:30pm.
 
26th – Halloween Parade – 7:15 on Asbury Ave., from 6th – 11th Streets.

18th – Earlier than the Bird Downtown Shopping Extravaganza – 8am – 12noon. Get out earlier than the bird and jump start you holiday shopping the weekend before Thanksgiving. Shop in your pajamas, early bird shopping specials.
 
24th – Christmas in the Downtown – “Our Miracle on Asbury Avenue” – 2pm – 5pm
Join the merchants and Chamber in kicking off an old-fashioned Downtown Christmas.
